Introduction to CAD
CAD is a very unique class that helps you develop and learn how structure and objects are thought out and built. This helps give you a view point on how much work really is needed for something as small as a wrench. In this class you are hands on with drawings but also using the computer to help make drawings. The software we use in this class is AutoCad, Onshape, and Revit. Within these Software packages we use a variety of tools and dimension the objects as well. These softwares help you learn many different techniques to make your drawing very detailed and specific.
Mechanical Drawings:
In mechanical drawings we would draw objects that included many different ojects and some parts of a machine, like a key slot. In order to draw these objects and make precised lines and arcs we had to use T-squares, rulers, 30-60 Triangle, and much more. This would help make the drawings more accurate as well and keeping it neat and clean.
AutoCAD:
AutoCAD was a drafting and design software that we used on the desktops. This software package allowed us to design 2D and 3D drawings. In AutoCAD we learned about the offset tool, chamfer, and much more that would allows us to create our drawings much faster and more accurate. We also could dimension our objects using the AutoCAD system.
OnShape:
In Onshape we could use 3-D views to draw objects from a specific view. These view included, Top, front, and right. You could also turn off these views and just focus on one view to help make the drawing precise. In this software package you could use the extrude tool to expand or make the object into a 3-D shape. Some tools were used in AutoCad as well, like mirror or offset. This software package also allowed us to assign the object a material where you could find the surface area and volume.
3D Printing Object:
On this small unit we were asked to find a small object that we could 3D print. I decided to print a light house that I found
Architect Project:
2 Car Garage
In this project we followed along with Mr. Zeroth on how to create a 2 car garage. To create this garage we used Revit, where we learned about the new tools and styles to use within the software.
Conclusion:
I really enjoyed this class and found everything we did very interesting. I feel as if I really grew as a student in this class and my knowledge of architecture and much more grew. I really enjoyed this class because we went over a broad amount of topics and softwares that showed us many different unique tools and ideas.
