Introduction to CAD
CAD 2 is an advanced class where you develop skills in drawing and modeling objects or parts. In the course you will learn a lot about materials, manufacturing processes and techniques that are used to create the specific parts. In the class you will do mechanical drawings as well as AutoCad and much more software programs.
Mechanical Drawings
Creating a mechanical drawings took a process that allowed you to use many different tools and techniques to create the objects. Some of these tools included an elispe template, different triangles, and much more. Using these tools helped make the look clean and organized as well as detailed. The small details help show how precise the object really is.
AutoCAD Drawings
AutoCAD is a software package that allows you to draft and design specific parts into 2D or 3D designs. Using this program, we created single view, orthographic, and section drawings. The program provides tools like chamfers, offset, and much more to create designs quickly and accurate.
Manufacturing Presentation
OnShape
Onshape allows the users to create 3D designs while using different views to project the object. The system does have similar tools and methods to AutoCad but also has many different ones. Some of these tools include; extrude and revolve, which helps turn the object into a 3D piece. Using these methods, you can get the object created much quicker and more precised.
Conclusion
I loved taking the CAD courses! I enjoyed creating all the different drawings using the different software's and techniques. I really like constructing a specific piece or part and I'm very interested in how those objects are then built. I thought Onshape was really easy to use because it allows you to work on so many different planes which gives you more views and makes it much faster to create the object. I learned about not just about the objects but also the material and manufacturing of them. All in all, it was a great class.
